About the role
Redesign Lives with Laughter, Movement, and Meaning
Are you a recreation specialist who is passionate about relationships, empowerment, and reimagining traditional approaches to support?
We are seeking a Play Coach to join our dynamic, community-based organization supporting people who are redesigning their lives after brain injury, stroke or other complex health conditions – moving away from institutional models toward more self-directed, meaningful living.
About the Role
A Play Coach is a recreation specialist who supports individuals to rediscover fun, engagement, and belonging. This role blends therapeutic expertise with coaching—supporting people to reconnect with personal interests and find meaning in leisure. Play Coaches help make play part of everyday life, not just scheduled activities. As a Play Coach you’ll use your creativity, therapeutic knowledge, and coaching skills to help people engage in meaningful recreation, connect with others, and build the life they want.
What You’ll Do
- Support individuals to explore and participate in activities that reflect their passions and interests.
- Design and adapt recreation strategies that promote connection, purpose, and self-expression.
- Coach team members and families to bring play and creativity into daily routines.
- Help foster community inclusion and access to local opportunities.
- Be a key member of CONNECT’s coaching resource team and contribute to integrated, person-led planning.
What We’re Looking For
- A background in Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including brain injury or stroke.
- Strong relationship-building, coaching, and communication skills.
- Creative, playful, and committed to person-centred, trauma-informed practice.
- Registered or certified with a relevant professional association (preferred).
Working at CONNECT
This is a presence-based role located at CONNECT Partners. You’ll work across homes, community settings, and with individuals one-on-one. Some planning and documentation may be done remotely with approval. We offer a vibrant, team-based environment where you can grow your skills, share your passions, and help people build lives they love.
How to Apply
If you’re excited about building meaningful experiences through recreation and play, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter sharing why you’re a great fit for this role.
