Senior Business Financial Analyst
About the role
Our client, a Top 5 bank in Canada, is looking to hire a Business Analyst – Risk Management (IFRS9/ECL Redesign) for a 6-month contract with a possibility of extension. This role supports an initiative to redesign and enhance the IFRS9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) process based on recommendations from a third-party consulting assessment. The Business Analyst will play a key role in building a business case, gathering requirements, and liaising between business and IT teams to define and support the implementation of proposed changes. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 2 Days Onsite (Monday + occasional Tuesday) in downtown Toronto.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and present a comprehensive business case to support transformation of the existing loan loss (IFRS9 ECL) process.
- Analyze third-party assessment reports and align business needs with technology solutions.
- Gather, document, and translate business requirements to technical teams for solution design.
- Conduct ROI and cost-benefit analysis to support decision-making for process redesign.
- Support and influence highly complex business processes and operational improvements.
- Collaborate with key business partners, project stakeholders, and IT teams.
- Act as a liaison between Risk Management, Accounting, and Technology functions to ensure alignment and clarity of deliverables.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Business Analyst experience with a focus in Risk Management or Accounting.
- Solid understanding of IFRS9 and Expected Credit Loss (ECL) principles.
- Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
- Proven track record of delivering business process optimization and system improvements.
- Ability to create and communicate strategic business solutions that deliver competitive advantage.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience within the Canadian financial or banking industry.
