Location: Saskatchewan
Employment Type: Full-time | Office & Field-Based
Compensation: $120,000 – $130,000/year (based on experience)
Are you a seasoned construction leader ready to oversee one of the most ambitious telecom infrastructure builds in Saskatchewan? RFNOW Inc. is seeking a Construction Manager – Large-Scale Telecom Capital Project to manage multi-million-dollar construction projects from the ground up. This leadership role is crucial in ensuring the successful execution of field operations, contractor coordination, and quality compliance across our growing telecom network.
What You’ll Do:
Project Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end execution of all field construction activities for capital projects (e.g., FTTH, backbone, transport).
- Align daily operations with master schedules, material timelines, and financial targets alongside the Senior Project Manager.
- Drive milestone tracking, risk mitigation, and field work planning in alignment with broader project goals.
- Conduct regular coordination meetings and provide progress updates to executive leadership.
Team Oversight
- Supervise and mentor Construction Inspectors, field supervisors, and contractors.
- Monitor field performance, address deficiencies, and maintain construction accountability.
- Ensure subcontractors meet scope, safety, and schedule expectations.
Execution & Quality
- Ensure all work complies with engineering drawings, CSA standards, federal safety regulations, and customer deliverables.
- Partner with QA/QC teams to uphold construction standards and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
- Manage field-level risks such as site conditions, weather, delays, or contractor disputes.
Safety & Compliance
- Uphold safety excellence by enforcing Canada Labour Code (Part II) and relevant OH&S standards.
- Oversee locate markings, environmental protections, and incident investigation protocols.
Cost & Change Management
- Monitor material usage, productivity, change orders, and contractor billing.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Project Manager to validate change requests and track costs.
- Assist in construction forecasting and subcontractor evaluations.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience managing large-scale telecom or utility construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods: directional drilling, plowing, fiber pulls, vault installation, aerial plant.
- Familiarity with telecom network components: fiber optics, conduits, closures, pedestals, vaults, aerial spans.
- Experience managing multiple contractors and cross-functional field teams.
- Skilled in reading construction drawings, redlines, test results, and GIS maps.
- Knowledge of Canada Labour Code, CSA Z247, and permitting/regulatory frameworks.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Comfortable using project tracking tools (e.g., Vitruvi, Excel, Google Workspace).
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel between field sites.
Preferred Assets:
- PMP, Gold Seal, CET, or equivalent construction management credentials.
- Experience with federally regulated telecom carriers or broadband grant-funded builds.
- Working knowledge of construction budgeting, subcontractor onboarding, and billing processes.
