About the role
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working in collaboration with the Director and programming team, the Curator is accountable for developing and carrying out the exhibition program of Carleton University Art Gallery (CUAG). The Curator and Collections and Exhibitions Assistant share registrarial duties in the administration and care of the University's art collection.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Must understand the University’s and CUAG’s strategic goals and objectives to work with the Director and programming team in developing the exhibition program.
- Requires scholarly and practical expertise coupled with professional judgment and ongoing community consultation.
- Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as superior administrative, research, writing, and communication skills.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Art History, Museum Studies, Curatorial Studies or a related field.
- Five years of curatorial experience in a university or public art gallery or as an independent curator, with a demonstrated record of curatorial research, writing and programming; experience creating and managing a multi-year exhibition program; experience with collection care and management.
