As a Billing Specialist, a typical day might include:
- Prepares, issues, and delivers invoices in accordance with set procedures, standards, and performance metrics
- Ensures appropriate set up, tracking, and monitoring of special billing arrangements
- Liaises with the Accounting team on various programs, bordereaux, and other Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable reconciliations
- Administers the Premium Financing process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of contracts and funding arrangements
- Reviews Accounts Receivable and reports write offs
- Assists with the non-payment process
- Assists with the weekly cash flow forecast
- Assists with internal and external reviews/audits and other compliance reporting requirements
- Maintains a standardized electronic document management system
- Supports the Senior Billing Specialist in administering the department score card with a view to continuous improvement
- Creates, renews, and amends policies, both agency and direct bill
- Reviews policies and reports against support to ensure accuracy
- Obtains Premium Finance quotes
- Handles routine internal/external client inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
- Prepares and issues policy packages

Must haves:
- Minimum 2 years’ billing experience in a fast-paced corporate administrative/accounting role
- General Insurance Salesperson Level 1 license through the Insurance Council of British Columbia; equivalent license in province of residence with the ability to obtain a British Columbia license, or commitment to obtain a Level 1 license, ideally within 6-12 months of hire
- Post-Secondary education, considered an asset
