Position Summary
The Admitting Department is currently seeking a Permanent Part-time Patient Access Clerk I to join their team.
Start date: August 11, 2025
Department/Unit/Program Description
The Patient Access Clerks are responsible for performing a variety of related patient information services in an accurate and timely fashion, under minimal supervision, to assist health care practitioners in the delivery of quality patient care at Ross Memorial Hospital.
Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Previous clerical/administrative experience within the last year is essential
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology - testing required
- Keyboarding skills and minimum speed of 35 w.p.m. with high degree of accuracy - testing required
- Demonstrated excellence customer service skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, a data base program and demonstrated experience in computer applications
- Ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients, physicians and the public
- Demonstrated high level of communication, organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated professional manner
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job as per the current Physical Demands Analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hospital or medical office setting
- Trained in EPIC Cadence and Prelude preferred - training can be provided, but must pass required testing
- Working knowledge of current Hospital Patient Information System
- Previous registration or booking experience
Hours of Work
Must be available to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings, nights), including weekends and stats scheduled within the parameters of the CUPE Collective Agreement. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
