General Description We are seeking an experienced and versatile Associate Counsel to provide a broad range of legal services and strategic advice across various departments and business units within our Canadian operations. This role requires a corporate generalist with strong analytical, contractual, and advocacy skills to support the company’s transactional, commercial, and employment-related legal matters.
As an Associate Counsel with us the minimum responsibilities are:
- Provide legal counsel on transactional and commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer contracts, collection, transportation, and disposal agreements, as well as requests for proposals and other commercial arrangements.
- Assist with labour and employment matters, including labour arbitrations and employment proceedings before courts and relevant tribunals.
- Enforce commercial and municipal contracts to ensure compliance and protect the company’s interests.
- Support the resolution of disputes and litigation matters as they arise.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with and oversee external legal counsel as needed.
What We Need From You
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) with strong academic credentials.
- Member in good standing of the Ontario Bar.
- 2–5 years of experience, either in-house or at a law firm.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a dynamic, team-oriented approach.
- Excellent analytical and advocacy skills, with the ability to draft, review, and apply legal advice effectively.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance the delivery of legal services.
- Adaptability and willingness to engage in a diverse range of legal matters.
- Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment requirements.
