What Is the Opportunity? Job Profile Summary

Working under supervision, the employee is responsible for providing quality, accurate and timely translations (from English to French) as well as for reviewing and editing French content to meet business needs in both official languages.

What Will You Do?

  • Translates text into French in accordance with Quebec’s French Language Charter and industry standards, as assigned.
  • .
  • Proofreads and provides final approval of documents (Marketing, HR, Corporate Communications, etc.) keeping in mind the Travelers ‘tone of voice’.
  • Manages several assignments and priorities at once; prioritizes workload to maximize efficiency and completes assigned tasks within specified deadlines.
  • Communicates in a timely manner if deadlines will be difficult to meet.
  • Adapts to changes in deadlines and translation/editing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • University degree in French translation or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in the Insurance Industry is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in English and French languages, grammar and writing skills.
  • Advanced ability to work well with multiple priorities and within tight deadlines.
  • Advanced problem solving, planning and organizational skills.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Some publishing and/or technical writing experience an asset.
  • Database / content management experience an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and translation tools (Trados, MultiTerm, DeepL, etc.).
  • Certification from the Canadian Translators Council or membership in a provincial association of translators would be an asset.

What is a Must Have?

  • Degree in Translation or minimum 3 years of legal, technical and/or administrative translation experience.
  • Fully fluent with French language, both written and spoken.
