JOB SUMMARY

The role of Assistant Director of Maintenance is a key position at Société Terminaux Montréal Gateway. The incumbent reports to the Director of Maintenance and works closely with them to coordinate and supervise various maintenance activities throughout the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Director of Maintenance in managing and coordinating departmental activities.
  • Ensure that the activities of their team align with the company's objectives.
  • Evaluate performance following preventive maintenance work.
  • Promote and ensure health and safety at work following STMG guidelines.
  • Participate in various meetings, such as health and safety, operations, etc.
  • Supervise maintenance teams and ensure the quality and safety of work within specified deadlines.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance projects to ensure the availability of production equipment.
  • Contribute to the development of the company's maintenance strategy by proposing improvements to increase efficiency and profitability.
  • Train and develop the skills of the maintenance team members to ensure effective operation.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in an industrial and unionized maintenance environment.
  • French is mandatory, but an advanced proficiency in English is also required due to the international nature of the company and the need to interact with international clients and partners, as well as to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Ability to lead, supervise employees, and develop their skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in computer tools and maintenance software.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS, Maximo) principles and a purchasing and inventory management system (assets).
