About the role

Family Practice ROS (100-2519)

This is a full service family practice position providing longitudinal care. Each physician in the clinic has control over their own practice and patients. We have 2 exam rooms each, a bright sunny shared office space, the ability to do minor surgical procedures (biopsies, lumps and bumps, and IUDs and endometrial biopsies). We are currently not open extended hours but are happy to discuss changing the hours if support staff can be arranged. We have been providing full obstetrical care including labor and delivery however this is optional.

This is less of a clinic setting and more of a shared space with individual practices. We teach residents and medical students and have had a number of International Grads in that capacity. We currently have a PRA-BC return of service physician who has fit in well and has had no problem growing her practice. We are getting a 2nd PRA-BC physician in October, 2025.

This position would involve assuming some of the patients of one of our physicians who is ready to decrease her patient load in preparation for retirement. There is also capacity to take on unattached patients and family members of attached patients from the community. In particular, there are many unattached mothers that are cared for during pregnancy and delivery, that would benefit from on-going care post delivery.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday, 9am -5pm
  • Would consider extended hours if requested by candidate

Remuneration:

  • LFP and other models be an option if applicable with further consideration

Overhead:

  • One third of operating costs for clinic
  • Currently each share is approximately $6000.00 to $6250.00 per month. A part time physician may come on board who will pay a portion which would decrease our overhead.

Community Information:

Royal Oak is a vibrant residential area located close to Elk Lake, Cordova Bay and all urban amenities. There is easy access from all areas of Victoria and the Saanich peninsula by car, bike and transit. Victoria General Hospital is a 10 to 15 minute commute.
