The Office of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer is looking for a Communications Coordinator to join its team for approximately 18 months. Reporting to the Manager of Communications, this role is part of the Civic Engagement and Communications Division and is part of a strong, service-driven team where each day presents fresh challenges and opportunities to tangibly impact the lives of City of North Vancouver’s residents, businesses, partners and visitors.
Responsibilities The Communications Coordinator will lead the tactical execution of communications strategies in support of City priorities and annual work, as well as the production of content for corporate channels such as newsletters, social media, websites, and media monitoring platforms.
Duties include: monitoring, collating and analyzing media output relating to the City of North Vancouver and gathering data for regular reporting; tracking metrics and reputation/sentiments and analyzing and delivering key insights to the staff team; researching, writing, producing and executing a wide variety of communications tactics for social media, advertising, video and print; implementing annual media and communications campaigns; assisting in arranging news conferences and other special events; preparing reports, presentations, correspondence and other materials related to the work; providing ongoing support to the Digital and Web Coordinator via web updates and managing social media channels; and other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements Candidates must have a degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related discipline plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate insight-driven communication projects; demonstrate good working knowledge of local government and how it operates; knowledge of writing and editing for web, print, social media, video and advertising; the ability to develop reports, presentations, correspondence and other related materials. The preferred candidate will have the ability to remain strategic in high intensity conditions and handle confidential and sensitive issues with skill, tact and diplomacy; and a demonstrated interest and experience supporting equity-deserving communities.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
Compensation $44.22 to $52.21
(Pay Grade 25- January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately every three-week scheduling cycle.
