Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum one year of recent experience (within the last two years) as a Unit Clerk in an acute care inpatient setting. Completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong communication and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands. Highly organized, adaptable, and able to prioritize effectively. Experience working with the public. Understanding of collaborative care in an acute care setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an inpatient mental health setting is preferred. Experience working in child and adolescent mental health is considered a strong asset.
