Compensation: $17.60/hr

Duration: June 2025 – December 2025 (extensions through June 2026 available)

MetaLingo is one of Voilà’s flagship programs, a bilingual, immersive tutoring platform for children aged 2 to 15. Through a vibrant 3D learning environment, students join as avatars in small group classrooms where they build fluency, academic confidence, and social-emotional skills in French, English, and math. Backed by funding from the Government of Canada, MetaLingo brings structured lessons and flexible homework help to families across the country. Every session is designed to support cognitive development, foster teamwork, and create moments of connection, all from the comfort of home.

Position Snapshot:

In this role, you'll be a key part of our MetaLingo project, an immersive virtual tutoring program designed for students aged 2 to 6 (“Little Learners”) and 7 to 15 (“Big Learners”). Powered by Voilà and funded by the Government of Canada, MetaLingo supports students in building foundational skills in French, English, and math through structured academic instruction and engaging, avatar-based experiences in the metaverse.

Tutoring takes place Monday to Thursday from 5:00–8:00 PM EST, with flexible hours and shift options. You'll work in interactive virtual 3D classrooms where students receive personalized support in small group settings, helping them not only grow academically, but thrive socially and emotionally. Through collaborative learning, daily feedback, and engaging content, you'll help learners build confidence and fluency in a space intentionally designed for connection and joy.

🎯 What You’ll Do

• Facilitate small-group tutoring sessions in French, English, and Math using interactive tools like games, digital whiteboards, and role-play scenarios
• Develop and deliver structured lesson plans tailored to students’ learning levels, goals, and curriculum needs
• Lead conversational language sessions in English or French to support fluency and comfort
• Provide drop-in homework support and personalized one-on-one assistance as needed
• Engage young learners using expressive communication, dynamic virtual tools, and adaptive teaching strategies
• Guide students in mastering key academic and language concepts with patience and creativity
• Maintain a positive and welcoming learning environment in the metaverse that promotes collaboration and active participation
• Create engaging lesson materials using digital tools and online resources
• Provide clear and informative answers to student and parent inquiries, fostering trust and support
• Submit daily progress reports detailing student engagement, strengths, and areas for growth
• Communicate regularly with supervisors about student performance, lesson effectiveness, and classroom feedback
• Support students in troubleshooting basic technical issues when needed
• Follow up with students to assess their progress and provide encouragement and continued guidance
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve the virtual learning experience
• Represent Voilà and the MetaLingo program professionally and positively in all parent-facing communications

💡 What You Bring

• Fluency in English is required.
• French fluency is a strong asset and is required for those interested in supporting French-language sessions.
• Strong subject knowledge in one or more of: French, English, and Math
• Expertise in using AI tools like ChatGPT, Co-pilot, etc
• Expertise in using design tools like Canva, Google Slides, etc
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, or working with children/youth (volunteering counts!)
• Confidence using digital tools and openness to new technologies
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to connect with diverse learners
• Willingness to commit to evening shifts and collaborate with a remote team

📚 Preferred Qualifications

• Enrolled/completed degree or diploma in education, early childhood studies, psychology, or a related field
• 1+ years of tutoring or leadership experience
• Familiarity with youth development, virtual education, or educational technology
• Experience using AI to draft content
