QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
- Current BCLS.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Rehabilitation and Geriatric Nursing required.
- Training in FIM® instrument (Functional Independence Measure Instrument) preferred.
- Must demonstrate satisfactory performance of the following RPN skills:
- Aseptic Technique
- Discontinuing IV's and Recording Amount Absorbed
- Urinary Catheterization
- Manual Irrigation of a Urinary Catheter
- Oxygen Delivery
- Oropharyngeal/Nasopharyngeal/Tracheotomy Suctioning
- Active and Passive Exercises
- Use of Hearing Aids
- Insertion of Rectal Suppositories
- Health Assessment of the Geriatric Patient
- Medication Administration Course for RPN
- Demonstrates critical-thinking and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated effective documentation skills.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
- Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal).
- Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and patient safety, considers safety of self and co-workers.
