Project Details:
Based at our project in Northern B.C., this will be a 3 week on / 3 week off rotation opportunity.
Position Summary:
The Shift Boss role is to safely manage the daily advancement of development and production targets. Overseeing the daily operation of their department from a frontline position gives a shift boss first hand perspective and knowledge of all work headings. A Shift Boss has a good understanding of mining procedures and processes for their given department (i.e., Production, Development, etc.) The main concerns of a Shift Boss is the safety of their crew, quality and quantity of work, condition of the workplace and reporting accurately all shift activities. Shift Bosses make a close connection with their workers and build mutual respect and knowledge about their team. They learn how best to work with them and how their abilities are best used to mine efficiently. Giving workers the opportunity to advance to new positions and creating a healthy environment where workers feel appreciated for their hard work is key to the role and is key to crew morale.
R****esponsibilities:
The Shift Boss is responsible and accountable for the following:
- Adhering to all legislated mining and environmental regulations and performing the role safely; ensuring Health & Safety is the number one priority, conducting safety briefings and inspections regularly.
- Following all procedures, policies and processes at the mine site and underground workplace.
- Efficiently allocate resources, including manpower and machinery, to optimize production and minimize downtime.
- Monitor and manage production activities during the shift, ensuring that production goals and targets are met.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Recognize potential hazards in the work environment and implement measures to mitigate risks.
- Supervise and lead a team of miners, providing clear instructions, support, and guidance.
- Identify training needs for the team and coordinate training programs to enhance safety awareness and operational skills.
- Address any conflicts or issues among team members and foster a positive work environment.
- Ensure that mining equipment and machinery are inspected and operated to specifications and workplace conditions striving to avoid breakdowns and or equipment damage.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of shift activities, safety inspections, equipment maintenance, and incident reports.
- Document and report any incidents or accidents to the appropriate stakeholders and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Foster teamwork and effective communication among team members to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues.
- Other mining related tasks as required
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience working full-time in an underground mining environment.
- Must have a valid British Columbia Underground Shift Boss Certification.
- First-aid ticket.
- Mine Rescue Certificate and experience preferred.
- Proficiency in operating mining equipment such as drills, mechanized bolters, loaders, and haulage trucks.
- Basic knowledge of machinery maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure equipment is in good working condition and to address minor repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maps, and schematics related to mine layout and equipment.
- Awareness of rock stability and support systems to ensure mine safety and stability.
- Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying 25 kgs on a regular basis
- Positive attitude and enjoys being a proactive member of a high performing team
- Dependable and able to commit to a 3 week on / 3 week off rotation

This position involves frequent air travel to and from the work site. Applicants must meet all legislated requirements for air travel to work at the remote site camp. You will be required to work both dayshift and nightshift as part of the rotational schedule 21 days on site, 21 days off site. For this safety sensitive position, you will be required to undergo a background check and be required to undergo a substance test and pre-employment testing.

As a valued member of the Procon team, you can look forward to a competitive annual salary based on experience, skills, and qualifications. In this role, you are also eligible for benefits, including:
- Competitive annual salary ranging between $150,000 - $175,000 based on experience and qualifications. The wage ranges are comprised of the hourly wage plus applicable premiums and calculated on an average number of rotations worked per year.
