How will you contribute?

Under the supervision of the Senior Financial Officer, you will review and process financial transactions to ensure that they comply with Senate policies and guidelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for the input and maintenance of accurate financial information. The Financial Officer will provide a range of accounting and financial services to Senators and their staff as well as employees of the Senate Administration. Open to

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate, full-time position in the Finance and Procurement Directorate.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Post-Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience;
  • Minimum of one (2) years of experience processing transactions, such as accounts payables, and/or accounts receivables using a financial management system or enterprise resource planning software (ERP);
  • Two (2) years of experience working directly with a variety of client groups advising on the application of financial regulations and directives;
  • Experience in analyzing financial transactions to ensure compliance with policies and accounting standards;
  • Demonstrated experience in account verification of transactions;
  • Ability to analyze accounting statistics and report findings;
  • Ability to plan, organize and establish priorities;
  • Ability to effectively use MS Office Suite;
  • Experience using an Integrated Finance and Materiel System such as UNIT4, SAP, FreeBlance and the Receiver General’s Payment Systems is considered an asset;
  • Previous relevant experience with an employer on Parliament Hill (House of Commons, Library of Parliament, or PPS) is considered an asset.
