The Role At the Brenda Strafford Foundation, we are committed to delivering exceptional person-centered care while fostering a culture of safety, respect, and inclusivity.
As a Clinical Occupational Therapist/Phyisotherapist, you will be a vital part of our multidisciplinary team, responsible for assessing, reassessing, and treating residents to help them achieve their highest level of function and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate resident treatment programs.
- Assess residents’ therapy needs upon admission and regularly review therapy plans.
- Provide rehabilitation treatment and support to maintain residents’ optimal functioning.
- Assess residents for seating, wheelchairs, and mobility aides, ensuring their access to necessary equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and data as required by Restorative Care documentation policy.
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure integrated, effective treatment plans.
- Supervise and guide Certified Therapy Aides in implementing treatment programs.
- Advise nursing staff on transfer techniques, mobility aids, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications Who We're Looking For:
- Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy / Phyisotherapy Program.
- Registered Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist in Alberta.
- Previous experience in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy, ideally within long-term care, is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- AADL Authorizer certification is an asset.
- Licensed with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists and eligible for Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (C.A.O.T.) membership.
Additional Requirements
- Criminal record check in accordance with Alberta Health and Wellness standards.
- Physical demands include medium duties with repetitive motions and walking/lifting tasks.
- Participation in the Foundation's OH&S program and commitment to safe work practices.
