Work arrangement: Part-Time, 2 Term Contract (Onsite)

Reports To: Student Success Office Leadership

Reason for vacancy: Student position

Expected hiring range: $17.20 per hour

  • This part-time, term contract student position is open and reserved for current UNF students only.

Primary Purpose:

Under the direction of the Student Success Office, the Student Health Promoters will work collaboratively to support the health promotion goals of the Student Wellness team and the wider Student Success Office. Student Health Promoters will be active leaders on campus in promoting all aspects of wellness: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual. Student Health Promoters will engage in research, planning, implementation, and evaluation of passive and active health and wellness programming.

Outreach & Health Promotion

  • Promote student usership of the GuardMe Student Support Program
  • Educate students about GuardMe’s International Student Health Insurance plan
  • Share urgent and relevant health and wellness information with the student community (e.g., influenza vaccines, public health alerts)

Program Development & Facilitation

  • Develop and lead Student Wellness initiatives aligned with the Eight Dimensions of Wellness (emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, spiritual)
  • Support wellness programming during New Student Orientation
  • Develop and lead promotional tabling sessions, including Wellness Wednesday
  • Co-lead both online and in-person group drop-in wellness sessions

Content Development & Research

  • Conduct research on best practices in health promotion in postsecondary environments
  • Develop and maintain an online database of engaging, evidence-based health promotion content

Administration & Other

  • Collaborate closely with Student Success Office colleagues to provide integrated student services and resources.
  • Be available for some evening and weekend work.
  • Submit a monthly log, reporting on goals and achievements.
  • Complete an end-of-term program evaluation survey.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of UNF

Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a student withing the University of Niagara Falls Canada during the entire duration of the contract
  • Preferred that at start date, student has completed one term
  • In good standing with the university
  • Must be available for a minimum of 1 shift per week
  • Must be available for evening and weekend work, as scheduled
  • Experience in peer support or student programming (asset)
  • Familiarity with wellness resources and social determinants of health (asset)
