Position Description
Position Summary This position provides clerical support to the Community Internal Medicine Rapid Access Clinic (C-IMRAC) and Pre-Admission Assessment Unit (PAAU), working in collaboration with multidisciplinary team of nurses, physicians and allied health. The incumbent interacts directly with patients and their families as well as hospital departments.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma/certificate in medical office administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Medical terminology certificate
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a health care environment
- Previous experience in a rapid assessment clinic is an asset
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of Service, Responsible Stewardship, Community Responsiveness, Respect, Teamwork and Collaboration
- Previous experience with EPIC (Dovetale), Outlook and Web access
- Intermediate level in MS Word, MS Excel, Spelling
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both in person and by telephone
- Maintain excellent interpersonal relationships while handling multiple tasks, frequent interruptions and stressful situations
- Essential to demonstrate compassion and understanding with patients and their families in all interactions
- Strong organization skills, with ability to set own priorities and work with minimal supervision
- Excellence in grammar, spelling, and punctuation, together with report writing skills
Responsibilities
- Registers patients, verifies health care and other patient demographics, and enters all pertinent information into the hospital patient processing information systems: EPIC (Dovetale), Office 365 Microsoft, Teams
- Assembles patient charts for each day, ensuring all pertinent patient information is included with the ability to process same day and time sensitive patient bookings
- Provides reception duties as required by handling all incoming phone calls and enquiries to C-IMRAC and PAAU in an efficient and courteous manner
- Handles the documentation and flow of physician/nursing orders, laboratory reports, bloodwork, diagnostic test results, appointment sheets
- Maintains unit statistics and produces various reports, patient profiles
- Provides administrative support in typing routine correspondence sorts/distributes mail, faxes and emails, books conference rooms and coordinates meetings
- Schedules and maintains clinics for medical learners, organizes and updates patient charts, collects patient demographics and monitors clinic bookings
- Assists with other unit activities as assigned by Manager
WAGE RATE Hourly $28.87...$30.14... $31.37 (plus 14% in lieu of benefits)
