About the role
Overview
APEX is currently accepting applicants for an Inspection Supervisor within its Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Group Manager. The primary role of this position is to direct and coordinate all activities of the inspection department staff, plan flow of parts to maximize resources, ensure continuous improvements of existing and future production initiatives, and enhance customer quality in conjunction with improved profitability.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Inspection personnel and maintain inspection schedule(s).
- Develop and direct inspection and quality improvement initiatives for all company products and services.
- Oversee and maintain inspection processes.
- Support continuous improvements, including new product initiatives.
- Assist other Supervisors with the resolution of problems.
- Provide leadership by training, directing, coaching, developing and motivating staff to achieve goals.
- Communicate and coordinate activities with other team members.
- Occasionally perform various day-to-day inspection duties not excluding the running of inspection equipment.
- Maintain an organized and safe work area, assuring staff compliance with Health and Safety Protocols.
Experience
- CNC Machining or Engineering Technology Degree with minimum of 3 years of work experience in a similar environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with, customers, staff, and vendors.
- Must be cooperative, willing to share knowledge, mentor others and take on added responsibility as required.
- Highly motivated and self-directed, capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, business partners, agencies, etc.
- Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
- Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams.
- Be or become familiar with AS 9100 and NADCAP programs.
- Able to comprehend and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read, and interpret technical information (i.e. drawings, specifications)
- Have experience with QA systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards.
- Demonstrate effective decision-making and product knowledge.
Assets:
- Auditing experience
- Quality/Inspection experience including quality software
- Experience using ERP system (Syspro)
- CAD/CAM experience
- Experience with GD&T
- Previous Supervisor Experience
