VOS PROCHAINS DÉFIS:

Reporting to the Corporate Director, Mine, Geology & Grade Control, the Manager, Mine Geology and Grade Control will be part of the Mineral Resources Management Team (within the Global Agnico Eagle exploration group). This position provides support to operations to meet and exceed operational performances. The incumbent will advise on the evolution of the mines in operation as well as on various development projects. Key areas of focus will be to coach groups and provide guidelines in mine geology and grade control. They will also contribute to built reliable Mineral Reserve to Mill comparisons, analyse results and establish/follow action plans to improve reserves parameters and/or mining quality. They will play a key role with the corporate group in supporting the execution of the plan of the Budget and LOM.
Specific responsibilities will include:

Guide mine geology activities within Agnico Eagle mining operations:

  • Ensure that geological concepts and practices are in line with NI 43-101 guidelines;
  • Establish written procedures and guidelines for Mine Geology and Grade control;
  • Develop and monitor geological data acquisition and working protocols in accordance with industry’s best practices;
  • Participate in the Quarterly Corporate Consolidation of the results of Reconciliation Process and contribute to improve reserves parameters and/or mining quality;
  • Guide the Mine site Geology teams through action plans and ensure appropriate follow up;
  • Produce reports containing observations and recommendations following an intervention and / or a site visit and follow up;
  • Contribute to the development of Innovation programs (examples Sampling optimisation, Core scanning, Ore sorting, etc);
  • Participate in technical reviews (Geology discipline), for Budget / LOM mine sites or Project studies via Technical Corporate Team (TCT) if required;

Act as a mentor for geological groups

  • Provide guidance, coaching and transfer knowledge to different Mine Geology teams;
  • Promote the implementation of ‘best practice’ through continuous improvement and professional development;
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of employees;

LES QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIELLES À VOTRE RÉUSSITE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology (or Geological Engineering);
  • At least 15 years of relevant industry experience in Mining Geology with a minimum of 5 years in management of a Mine Geology Department. Experience shall include underground and open pit mining, resource estimation and exploration;
  • Fluent in English (good written and oral skills). French, Spanish and Finnish are an asset;
  • Strong technical aptitude in a range of geological settings and sound practical and theoretical understanding of structural geology, gold settings, gold systems and mineralisation styles/models are required;
  • Ability to be a Qualified Person as per NI 43-101;
  • Good knowledge and experience in underground/open pit mining methods and grade control practices;
  • Good knowledge of resource estimation, especially for gold;
  • Good knowledge of exploration and related techniques (diamond drilling, assaying methods, geochemistry, geophysics, etc.);
  • Excellent knowledge of geological software commonly used;
  • Ability to coach and develop Mine Geology team members;
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, ability to influence and facilitate change management;
  • Organisational and time management, problem solving skills are required;
  • Understanding of financial and technical parameters involved in developing and mining gold mines;

YOUR WORK SCHEDULE:
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday teleworking, or from one of our offices in Toronto, Timmins, Montreal or Abitibi. Travel to sites is required on a periodic or as-needed basis (30-50%).
