In this dynamic role, our Electrical and Instrumentation Reliability Engineer is respected for their knowledge and expertise brought to the team with regards to our instrumentation assets.
- Job location: Horizon Sands Site - Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off (Monday to Thursday)
- Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure the industry's reliability best practices are implemented and are part of the overall operations and maintenance activities
- Make recommendation on spare parts improvements
- Develop, update and maintain maintenance procedures, equipment files and documentation
- Provide day to day support for ensuring maximum reliability and uptime of Bitumen Production equipment, work towards achieving reliability goals and measure effectiveness of reliability programs
- Support Root Cause Failure Analysis of key equipment/process failures
- Perform regular audits to the preventive and predictive maintenance strategies on critical assets to ensure they are efficient and cost effective.
What You Bring to the Role:
- 5-10 years licensed professional engineer in the province of Alberta with experience in heavy industrial equipment (Mining, Chemical / Metal Processing Plants and/or Oil Sands experience will be an asset)
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation & controls or electrical & instrumentation disciplines preferred
- General knowledge of level, flow, pressure and density instruments, control valves and actuators, field communications and applicable codes and regulations related to the instrumentation field is required
- Knowledge of weight scale, metal detectors, nuclear profilers, motor-operated valve actuators, analyzers and autosamplers is an asset
- Working experience of CMMS system (e.g. Maximo), data historian (e.g. PI) and use of DCS / SIS (Delta-V) is an asset
- Attention to details and exceptional problem-solving skills coupled with a proven analytical ability enabling you to consider the details and complexities of issues
- Good communication skills both verbally and written
- Ability to prioritize work, recognizing the need for thorough and complete work but at the same time addressing the schedule demands.
