About the role

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Manager, Security, this position is responsible for overseeing security operations on a shift basis while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members . Is responsible for assisting with the implementation of security initiatives, ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and provides a learning environment. Provides input to the Manager for Performance Evaluations, actively participates in the recruitment and hiring process. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to the security operation on a shift basis as well as providing input for team member performance objectives and evaluations
  • Oversees security operations on a shift basis: may schedule team members in some locations
  • Implements security strategic plans as directed
  • Responds and resolves security issues as escalate d; provides de-briefing on critical incidents; escalates issues as necessary for resolution
  • Reviews inspection reports and takes appropriate action
  • Provides support in the administration of access/key control systems
  • Conducts training for security operations; recommending training opportunities and efficiencies
  • May be asked to assist with internal investigations by providing documentation, interviews, etc.
  • May provide security support for personal protection and venue security to Theatre Operations
  • Monitors, documents and prepares statements and/or reports on violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons or activities
  • Prepares and submits monthly Staff Resource Planning Proposals for special events and implements once approved
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholder s (guests, ownership and team members)
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations Performing other duties as assigned or directed

Education and Qualifications

  • Post Secondary education or suitable combination of education and experience an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in security/surveillance; minimum 1 year supervisory experience
  • Guard Force Training an asset; ASIS Certification an asset
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
  • Fluency in other languages an asset
  • Must be willing to recertify every 3 years for Use of Force Certification
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License Liquor Service Certification (e.g., Serving It Right)

Work Environment Considerations

  • Regular office environment, non-traditional work hours may be required in certain circumstances, some travel may be required
