About the role
Your Opportunity:
The Centre for Bleeding and Rare Blood Disorders (CFBD) clinic provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with a range of blood disorders, including hereditary angioedema (HAE), hemoglobinopathies, sickle cell disease, and immunodeficiencies associated with the home subcutaneous immune globulin program. The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role reports to the Clinic Manager and collaborates closely with the care team to support patients during both in-person clinic visits and telephone consultations. Using the nursing process along with critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, the RN is responsible for assessing, triaging, and coordinating patient care within the CFBD program. This role requires an integrated approach to care, encompassing patient education, health promotion, and disease prevention. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to prioritize effectively, and capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks. The RN is also expected to engage in ongoing professional development by participating in educational programs, research, and quality improvement initiatives. Throughout their work, the RN will deliver safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care in alignment with the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services (AHS).

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of acute care experience, including the administration of blood products, is required. Ambulatory care experience is also essential, along with demonstrated proficiency in Connect Care—particularly in reviewing electronic lab results—and working knowledge of Netcare, Outlook, Word, and other relevant applications. The role demands an intermediate level of physical activity, including frequent reaching above shoulder height, prolonged computer use, and the ability to assist patients with mobility limitations, such as transfers and support for bariatric clients. The candidate must be capable of lifting and carrying 10–15 kg regularly and lifting up to 50 pounds. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential, as is the ability to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team. The successful applicant will be highly organized, able to prioritize tasks independently, and bring experience in case management to support comprehensive patient care.
