ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

PRODUCT OWNER (Calgary-Hybrid, Remote considered)

We’re looking for dynamic, forward-thinking professionals who are hungry to develop and shape high impact products. Bringing a background in startups with an enterprise-grade mindset you have worked on end-to-end development and scalable projects. You have a passion for developing product strategies, conducting market research, defining product requirements, and managing the product backlog.

As a Product Owner at Ziing, you will be utilizing cutting-edge technology, leading the product strategy and roadmap for key parts of our logistics platform. Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for overseeing the progress of our current product offering and driving further development of our platform to support client needs. You will work closely with customers, engineers and operations to build complex roadmaps and drive clarity across cross functional teams. What You Will Do:

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with stakeholders to develop product strategies and roadmaps, and communicate product vision, strategy, and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
• Product Roadmap: You will own the product roadmap for all digital initiatives across web and mobile platforms.
• Market Research: Continuously analyze market trends and customer feedback to identify new product opportunities and drive product improvements.
• Revenue Model Research: Contribute to go-to-market readiness by supporting launch activities, cross-functional coordination, and tracking of product adoption and performance.
• Features & Requirements: Define, gather and prioritize product features and requirements based on business value and customer feedback.
• Backlog: Develop and manage the platform and product backlog, ensuring that it is always up-to-date and reflects the latest priorities.
• Release planning: Drive end-to-end release planning and execution, coordinating timelines, dependencies, and delivery milestones to enable smooth product launches.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, design, QA, sales, marketing and other teams to align product development with business goals and ensure market readiness.
• KPI Management: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintenance: Facilitate ongoing maintenance of the platform and products, while managing the orderly sunset of the legacy tech stack.
• Other: Other responsibilities as assigned and appropriate.

What You Bring:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, preferably in a technology-focused role.
• Technical Proficiency:

o Strong technical background with experience working with software development teams.

o Knowledge of market research and product analytics tools.

o Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data to make informed product decisions.

o Skilled in translating business requirements into clear, concise technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering teams.

o Ability to use tools such as Visio to create flowcharts, system architecture diagrams, or user journey maps to support technical understanding.

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams.
• SaaS: Experience supporting SaaS products across the product lifecycle, with a focus on go-to-market strategy, launch readiness, adoption, and cross-functional collaboration to drive successful commercialization.
• Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as JIRA.
• Azure DevOps: Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps for backlog management, sprint planning, release cycle coordination, and cross-functional team collaboration
• Release Planning: Proven experience managing full software release cycles, from planning and coordination to post-release monitoring and optimization.
• Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Passion: Strong interest in technology and staying up to date with the latest industry trends.

Our Head Office is in Calgary located at 110 9th Ave SW. While we prefer local candidates who can participate in our F2F Flex with Purpose (Hybrid) work offerings, talent is key so candidates located in other provinces in Canada, with a demonstrated ability, will also be considered.
