About the role
OVERVIEW
Acts as part of a multi-disciplinary team, facilitating patient flow throughout the clinic visit in Amb Surgical Services including Day Surgery, PAC and GSC. This may involve booking, registration, file management, preparing a patient for a visit/examination, arranging post-visit follow up reception, liaising with physician's office, and other clerical functions.
EDUCATION

Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent required.

Post-secondary education preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 to 5 years recent relevant experience (within the last two years) in a fast paced surgical clinic environment required.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently, as well as in a fast paced multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated innovation in problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with members of the public.
- Professional telephone etiquette is mandatory.
- Proficient in the use of Powerchart, ANSOS, ESM, SAP/SRM, Word and Excel preferred.
- Demonstrated familiarity with processing required diagnostic/lab requisitions as appropriate.
- Relevant knowledge of procedures, terminology and equipment utilized in Surgery Health Services in order to complete required paperwork.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Back Awareness training.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service skills is required; with the ability to ensure that clear direction is provided to all patients and follow up concerns are addressed in a calm and professional manner at all times.
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Demonstrated experience in the coordination of patient bookings is preferred.
- Demonstrated familiarity with chart and file management.
- Meet and exceed where possible, predefined departmental standards.
- Must be willing to work on all areas of the surgical health service as required (skills & abilities considered).
- Position requires rotation to GSC, Pre-Admission Clinic and Day Surgery.
- Good work and attendance record required.
