YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Supervisor - Engineering, the Planner - Open Pit is part of the Engineering Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The incumbent will work on production optimization opportunity projects and act as the liaison between the Engineering, Geology and Mine departments in regard to production related activities. They will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the Environment.
In their role, the selected candidate will:
- Build & ensure the proper execution of the Weekly, rolling three months and yearly mine planning;
- Perform pit design in accordance with the mine plan;
- Manage Open pits performance database for analysis and reporting;
- Maintain and update mine and milling plan;
- Conduct field inspection with General Supervisor - Open Pit to ensure mining compliance;
- Ensure waste rock storage facilities development follows procedures and plans;
- Promote Health and Safety by participating and hosting the monthly Departmental H&S meeting;
- Verify and approve drilling, blasting and tie-in connection plans if required;
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor degree in Mining, Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering;
- 3 years of experience & more in the engineering field;
- Previous experience in Open pit operation as a planner;
- Member of a Canadian engineering society and/or eligible for NAPEG license;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, positive attitude, with an ability to motivate and work in a team environment;
- Excellent safety habits and safe work practices;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
- Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec;
- Accommodation and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
