Job Description (CONTRACT UP TO 6 MONTHS) Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Real Estate Asset Management Office is looking for a 6-month contract Asset Management Analyst to provide expertise and coordinate the development and implementation of real estate asset management strategy through data management strategies, data collection systems, data visualizations and process mapping for Real Estate and Development department. Identify, analyze and interpret data trends/issues and make recommendations for improvement to business, operations and system processes.

What will I be doing?

  • Supports data management strategies by designing and implementing relational databases and data collection systems to optimize data quality, statistical efficiency, and enable evidence-based decision-making for real estate assets.
  • Manages the full data lifecycle—importing, cleaning, transforming, validating, and modeling data to ensure accuracy, relevance, and usability for business and operational insights.
  • Analyzes complex datasets, including real estate transactions, to identify trends and patterns using Data Definition Language or Data Manipulation Language commands (i.e. SQL) to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Assists in executing the Real Estate Asset Management Strategy, including lifecycle data management, asset registry development, classification standards, and improving data maturity and integration across systems.
  • Prepares, consolidates, and maintains real estate asset reporting, delivering dashboards and ad hoc reports that highlight key insights, operational issues, and actionable recommendations to present information for management and stakeholders.
  • Maintains a current knowledge base of internal/external data sources to develop centralized, accessible databases supporting business operations.
  • Develops KPI tracking systems to monitor asset performance, support preventative maintenance, and ensure compliance with asset management standards throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Maintains a reporting system for tracking procurement activities, service delivery, budgets (OPEX/CAPEX), and vendor performance to support cost estimation, contract negotiation, and compliance with procurement guidelines.
  • Conducts gap analyses between systems and business processes using analytics to identify improvement opportunities, enhance system integrations, and support implementation of new solutions.
  • Analyzes and maps operational and project-related processes to identify inefficiencies and contributes to process optimization efforts including documentation (e.g., asset information standards, data dictionaries, governance protocols, procurement workflows).
  • Recommends and supports technology and process automation initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline operations.
  • Liaises with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g., Metrolinx business units, government agencies, municipalities, rail partners) to align on data sharing, data collection and consolidation processes, and evolving information requirements.
  • Participates in data governance and asset management committees to align tools, systems, and protocols, and to contribute to cross-functional data and tools improvement efforts.
  • Supports various asset management initiatives and projects, and performs other duties as assigned.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of relational database concepts, database management software, automation, and tools and computer applications including Power BI, Tableau, Power Queries, MS Office Excel (Pivot tables, Power Pivot, formulas such as vlookups, xlookups, sumif, countif, textjoin/CONCATENATE, conditional formatting, VBA), SQL/DAX queries, Python, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint), and Power Automate.
  • Technical expertise in the use and application of data modelling, database design, development, investigative and data mining methods and techniques such as exploration, pattern identification for validation and verification.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform both quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information/data with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Critical-thinking/big picture-thinking skills to identify trends in data and provide insight into results and outline recommendations.
  • Interpersonal and relationship management skills to liaise with stakeholders and business units to identify/manage data/information requirements.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to prepare reports, update and brief management; provide information and explanations of a technical nature to a range of internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn new software and tools in an efficient manner.
  • Experience with software applications such as Oracle Primavera Unifier, Oracle e-Business Suite including iProcurement/procure-to-pay, HxGN EAM, EDRMS, OpenText, GIS and/or other enterprise asset management (EAM) applications would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of: ISO 55000 - Asset Management, ISO 19650 – Building Information Modelling preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a team environment, manages, develop and execute training programs.
  • Must be able to adapt and prioritize, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment through effective time management/multi-tasking and decision-making skills
