About the role

Position Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Policy Liaison, the Toronto Region Board of Trade (the Board) is seeking a Manager, Policy Operations , to join the Board’s vibrant policy team. With a focus on managing processes and ensuring the successful delivery of key initiatives that demonstrate impact and value to our business community members, the Manager is an integral part of the policy team.

The Board’s policy work spans a diverse range of files, including innovation, climate & energy, housing, land use, transportation, workforce development, and fiscal policy to enhance the region’s productivity. The Manager, Policy Operations position requires adaptability and the ability to oversee multiple projects across these various areas. Knowledge of and interest in one or more of these files is a distinct advantage.

Role Description:

  • Provide planning, project management, and execution support to the policy team by:
  • Preparing material for internal and external meetings, events, and Board-related activities, including curating agendas, setting up briefings, drafting meeting summaries, supporting logistics and scheduling, and tracking and maintaining internal records
  • Assisting with the convening of working groups, committees, roundtables, etc. to support the Board’s policy priorities, including identifying and connecting with high calibre speakers and ensuring strategic engagement with stakeholders
  • Work in concert with the policy team and other business units across the Board to deliver on organizational objectives by:
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of initiatives and advocacy campaigns to profile and amplify the Board’s work
  • Communicating with internal and external partners to support the delivery and execution of organizational priorities, including major events, policy symposiums, and roundtables.
  • Facilitating cross-departmental collaboration
  • Provide strategic research support to the policy team including:
  • Writing and research, such as scans of global best practices, rapid research requests, analysis of reports
  • Identify and manage opportunities for thought leadership and to leverage the Board’s convening platform to achieve impact and implementation of organizational priorities.

Your experience includes:

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in political studies, communication, business administration, or related field is an asset
  • 3+ years experience in a policy or project delivery role, with knowledge and interest in policy at all levels of government
  • Strong written and verbal skills while communicating with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency in task management software is an asset
