The Real Estate, Facilities & Economic Development department is looking for a temporary full time Economic and Business Development Coordinator for approximately 2 years.

Reporting to the Manager, Economic Development, this position will support the strategic goals of the City and the implementation of our Economic and Business Development priorities. Specific responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and implementing projects and programs aimed at improving business services and fostering a vibrant economic environment. This position will also manage economic development projects and contribute to broader corporate initiatives that align with the City’s economic vision. Acting as a liaison and concierge for local businesses, the incumbent will guide business owners through the City’s business licensing and permitting processes, helping to streamline approvals and enhance the overall business experience. The role also involves conducting technical and economic research, engaging with internal departments and external stakeholders, coordinating outreach and promotional activities, and providing policy advice and support on economic development matters. With a high degree of independence and collaboration, the successful candidate will help shape the City’s business-friendly approach and act as a trusted resource for businesses navigating municipal processes.

A degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, Political Science or a related field plus considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates who also possess economic development experience, preferably in a municipal government setting. Other knowledge of business, global trade, industrial/commercial development, real estate and/or marketing is an asset.

For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.

Salary:
$48.09 to $56.82 per hour
(Pay Grade 27 – January 2024 rates)

Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
