About the role

This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Our team

The Yukon Home Care Program provides client-focused health services in the home, improving quality of life and supporting Yukoners to live independently. Home Care offers a range of services tailored to meet individual needs, including support for acute care, chronic and palliative conditions. These services are determined through standardized assessments to assist in creating individualized plans of care; and are supported by an interdisciplinary team, consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Recreational Therapists, and Home Support Workers.

Your role

We are looking for a dynamic individual to provide clinical care services for clients who require therapy services in the community of Whitehorse. The Physiotherapist is responsible for providing professional physiotherapy services and care coordination services including; client assessments, treatments/interventions, development of comprehensive care plans for individuals of all ages with a broad range of physical and psycho-social disabilities to enhance, maintain or restore each client’s ability to function at an optimal level in all chosen roles. The physiotherapist will work to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect and work collaboratively with other health care professionals and community partners.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy

  • Recent experience as a Physiotherapist, providing assessment and treatment

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability

If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

  • Strong assessment skills

  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate individual programs

  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict management and communication skills

  • Ability to supervise and provide leadership for support staff

  • Ability to work both independently and with an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage a diverse caseload

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment, with an emphasis on Yukon First Nation’s culture

  • Experience working in a community setting is an asset

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • TB screening

  • WHMIS 2015

  • CPR Level C (within last 30 months)

  • Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security Clearance

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence

  • A valid & current licence to practice physiotherapy in the Yukon obtained through The Professional Licensing & Regulatory Affairs Branch (Community Services)

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

  • Exposure to animals in the home

  • Second hand smoke

  • Exposure to latex products

  • Bed bugs and/or other pests

  • Plants/flowers

  • Travel within the territory during adverse weather conditions may be required

  • Travel to and from the communities may be apart of this role
