1 ‑ Part Time (.6) ‑ Dialysis Aide
Hemodialysis Thunder Bay
This position will involve working the days, evening and weekend shifts. The shift is not to be interpreted as a guarantee.
Reporting to the Manager of the Renal department, the incumbent will work collaboratively with the nurses in the
department. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Dialysis Aide provides support in the care of
hemodialysis patients by ensuring that dialysis machine and supplies are organized and safely set up for the
individual patient's dialysis treatment within the hemodialysis unit or in Critical Care.
Qualifications:
* Completion of Secondary School (Grade 12)
* Previous experience working in a health care environment interacting with patients, families and health care
professionals
* Technical aptitude, comfortable working with computerized equipment
* Computer skills; email, Microsoft Word
* Able to work independently and be able to handle a work load with regular interruptions and changes in priorities
* Must possess English language communication skills sufficient to understand instructions, relay messages and to
communicate effectively with patients, families and members of the health care team
* Must possess English language literacy skills sufficient to record messages; read job procedures/instructions on
the hemodialysis machines, patient identification and records and supply labels
* Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job including lifting, pushing, pulling (a minimum of 5 kg)
reaching, standing and/or walking most of the day
Salary Range: $27.728 to 28.174
