Mining & Energy Team
As an Associate Broker in our Mining & Energy practice, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service to our clients and supporting the successful placement and management of complex commercial insurance programs. You will manage day-to-day client-servicing activities while contributing to market negotiations, and client growth initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in commercial insurance and is ready to take the next step in specialization and responsibility.
Role Description
Key Responsibilities
Client Servicing & Account Management
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, providing timely and professional service across all aspects of account management
- Support the renewal and mid-term servicing of commercial insurance programs, ensuring accuracy and consistency in documentation and delivery
- Draft and review client communications, presentations, proposals, and coverage summaries tailored to mining and energy sector risks
- Educate clients on coverage terms, conditions, and options; assist in the coordination of binding instructions and policy issuance
Placement & Market Engagement
- Prepare underwriting submissions, renewal documents, and supporting materials for insurers
- Assist in the negotiation of policy terms, conditions, and pricing with domestic and international markets
- Request and review loss experience reports and other underwriting data; support analytics and claims trend discussions with clients
- Collaborate with underwriters, premium finance providers, and internal stakeholders to coordinate optimal solutions
Operational Excellence
- Ensure timely issuance of invoices, certificates, binders, and endorsements; follow up on outstanding items as needed
- Monitor accounts receivable and support resolution of billing issues
- Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date records in EPIC and shared drives in compliance with operational standards
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and service quality
Experience Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in commercial insurance brokering or underwriting, preferably with exposure to resource-based industries
- Valid RIBO license; working towards or holding CIP, CAIB or CRM designations
- Strong knowledge of commercial property, liability, and specialty coverages relevant to mining and energy operations
- Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on accuracy, time management, and multitasking
- Professional communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex insurance terms for clients
- A collaborative mindset with the confidence to work independently and contribute to team initiatives
- Proficiency with brokerage management systems (e.g., EPIC) and Microsoft Office tools
