Volunteer opportunity brief

Are you passionate about making an impact? We're looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to support our team by preparing user research video recordings for our partners. Your contributions will help transform real user experiences into actionable insights that drive meaningful change.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative and purpose-driven team, gain hands-on experience, and help us deliver content that informs and inspires.

  • Reports to: Inclusive User Research General Manager
  • Contribution opportunity: Volunteer
  • Target start date: Immediately. We’re eager to welcome you aboard!
  • Location of volunteer: Remote, Canada

What you'll do

  • Edit user research recordings promptly on a project-by-project basis.
  • Remove all personal identifiers from recordings through trimming, muting, blurring, or other required video editing methods.
  • Add Code for Canada branding to recordings.
  • Follow procedures to ensure the privacy of personal and organizationally sensitive information.
  • Communicate status updates with the Inclusive User Research Team.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Da Vinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar video editing tools.

Time commitment

  • Capacity to spend 10-20 hours over the span of 1-2 weeks on video editing for user research projects.

Working Conditions:

This is a remote volunteer role performed from your own home or other quiet location of your choosing. Volunteers will need access to a reliable internet connection and a personal computer or laptop capable of running basic productivity and communication tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Google Meet, Slack, email). Most work will be completed independently, with occasional virtual meetings or check-ins.

Volunteers should be comfortable sitting at a desk and using a computer for extended periods. Tasks may require reading, writing, data entry, attending video calls, or responding to emails. While scheduling is flexible, some deadlines or virtual meetings may require availability during regular business hours.

You may be required to download external software such as Da Vinci Resolve and tldv.

Additional Notes:

Volunteers may be asked to take on additional tasks depending on organizational needs and events. We’ll always ensure volunteers are supported and not placed outside their comfort zone or area of interest.
