About the role

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participate in formal training and on-the-job learning to acquire skills related to tool and die making, including machining, welding, forklift and crane operation.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, tools and dies.
  • Evaluate dies, fixtures and cutting tools to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Work with vendors on die, equipment and machine repairs or build and keep Manager informed of status.
  • Prepares requisition for tool purchases, maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in managing the preventive maintenance program for machinery, tools and equipment, inventory of tools and dies.
  • Analyze tool and die-related problems and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality.
  • Participate in the implementation of ideas for the Method Improvements program.
  • Produces method improvements ideas and participate in team discussions.
  • Participate on charter teams, projects and task forces.
  • Conduct inspections and measurements to ensure that tools and dies meet quality standards and tolerances. Make adjustments and corrections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool and die maintenance, repairs, and modifications. Document changes and improvements for future reference.
  • Verify that quality and quantity produced on tools and dies meets Bobrick standards; document quality issues using the appropriate forms.
  • Assist the senior technician in planning and implementing effective and efficient methods of fabricating. That also applies to the development of new products and special quotes.
  • Provide input to budget preparation and meet the specified deadline.
  • Assist with training personnel on safe use of tooling and machine processes as required, in compliance with governmental and Bobrick standards of safety.
  • Participate in new product development and product transfer projects.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Assist workers and lead in diagnosing malfunctions in tooling and equipment to support efficient and continuous production processes.
  • Requisitions and keeps adequate supply of maintenance supplies and parts.
  • Assist the Tooling Technician to develop manufacturing methodology that includes interpretation of blueprints, shop layouts, travelers and jig fixtures.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of tools and dies, including tracking usage and identifying when replacements or repairs are needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in tool and die technology. Seek opportunities for further training and skill development.

Pay: $25.05-$30.00/hour

Experience

Required* 1 - 2 years: College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education

Preferred* Technical/other training or better in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field

  • Some college or better in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field
