About Flare Events
Flare is Canada’s leading off-app dating company. We help people connect meaningfully through in-person speed dating, coaching, and professional matchmaking. As we scale nationally, we’re refining the matchmaking side of our Shopify store, and we need a designer who can both revamp and implement.
This isn’t just a visual polish. You’ll be helping position services like our Daterbase membership for mobile-first buyers in a way that feels intuitive, credible, and worth the spend.
What You’ll Do
- Audit & Optimize UX: Review our current matchmaking store and recommend ways to improve the flow, layout, and hierarchy, especially on mobile.
- Design for Conversion: Rework key sections (like pricing, value comparisons, testimonials, etc.) to drive sales and trust.
- Build in Shopify: Directly implement your work in Shopify’s theme editor using Liquid, HTML, and CSS. No handoff, you’ll own both design and execution.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Work directly with the founder to quickly iterate on layouts, messaging, and structure.
You’re a Fit If You:
- Have 3+ years’ experience in UX/UI and e-commerce design
- Are fluent in Shopify, including theme customization and Liquid
- Prioritize mobile-first design with an eye for speed, clarity, and conversion
- Understand how to sell services, not just products
- Can work independently and move quickly
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with service-based brands or subscription models
- Knowledge of conversion psychology and trust-building UX
- Interest in dating, relationships, or behavioral design
Candidates based in Ontario are preferred; however, we welcome applications from qualified individuals across Canada.
Compensation & Terms
- Contract role (~10–15 hours/week to start).
- $30-$40/hour depending on experience and capabilities.
- Flexible hours, asynchronous communication.
- Possibility for expansion into a long-term retainer role.
