The UGDSB employs a team of approximately 4,000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin, Wellington, and the City of Guelph. The UGDSB covers the ancestral and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Six Nations of the Grand River, and Saugeen Ojibway Nation.

THE****OPPORTUNITY

The UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team for a temporaryparttimeopportunity in the capacity of CommunicativeDisordersAssistant. This is a 10-month position (yearly from Sept. – June following the school year calendar) to commence September 2, 2025 with an anticipated end date of June 26, 2026.

The CDA will be reporting to the ManagerofCommunication,Language&SpeechServices and will work under the direction and clinical supervision of UGDSB employed Speech-Language Pathologists.

**Hours/FTE:**0.5 FTE (17.5 hours per week)

**Salary****Range:**Base salary: $49,264 - $59,304 – (based on a 1.0 FTE full-time annual salary, wage rate effective September 1, 2025), plus applicable vacation pay, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act

*Labour market adjustment of 5.0% to be applied to base salary; salary range inclusive of market adjustment is $51,727 - $62,269 per annum – (based on a 1.0 FTE full-time annual salary, wage rate effective September 1, 2025)

**Board****Information:**10 months; temporary, part time, Professional Student Services Personnel

Responsibilities

  • Provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) support for students; create low-tech communication aids; set up and program high tech voice output devices; assist with the training of students, teachers, Early Childhood Educators and Educational Assistants in the use of the devices
  • Assist Speech-Language Pathologists (S-LP) in providing in-class modeling and support in the use of oral language and phonological awareness activities
  • Implement individual and group communication, speech and language programs for eligible students; prepare lesson plans, activities and materials; document student performance
  • Other duties as assigned

ExperienceandQualifications

  • Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) diploma or equivalent
  • Training and experience related to:
  • Child development and childhood exceptionalities, specific articulation and language development, speech and language disorders, treatments and interventions used
  • Set up and use of augmentative communication systems and technology
  • Assistive listening equipment (FM systems)
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
