Position Information:
Department: Office of Equity Diversity and Inclusion (OEDI)
Contract administrative role: September 2025 to March 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week scheduled Monday through Friday
Location: Oshawa Campus
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, the contract Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Program Coordinator is responsible for administering and supporting the REACH. INCLUDE. SUPPORT. ELEVATE (R.I.S.E.) program.
Administrate and Support the (R.I.S.E.) Program:
- Enhance and coordinate OEDI social media presence;
- Create content for the OEDI contribution to the DC Days of Awareness Calendar and associated student and employee communications;
- Develop, deliver and evaluate one-on-one system navigation support to equity-deserving students, including survivors of sexual violence and human rights violations;
- Coordinate facilitation and evaluation of intersectional community-based supports to equity-deserving students, including survivors of sexual violence and human rights violations;
- Manage Multi-Faith and Quiet Space;
- Support development of human rights and sexual violence training materials for students and employees;
- Assist with providing mentorship, training, and other supports to identity-based student groups;
- Support OEDI leadership on Durham Region EDI Community of Practice;
- Conduct knowledge gathering to support development of internal and external departmental and institutional reports.
Other Related Duties as Required:
- Support planning and administration related to activities/ responsibilities of the OEDI team;
- Provide support to student employees and placement students;
- Provide program support to the Director as needed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a four-year degree in Social Sciences, Education or a related field;
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required;
- Demonstrated foundational knowledge across key areas, including:
- Ontario Human Rights Code and broader human rights frameworks,
- Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Social Justice principles,
- Sexual and gender-based violence,
- Intercultural communication,
- Crisis response practices such as Mental Health First Aid and suicide intervention, and
- Trauma-informed practice.
- Sensitivity to intersecting social identities, including race, gender identity, sexuality, ability, and socioeconomic background;
- Broad understanding of social issues and the impact of those issues related to achieving an inclusive learning environment;
- Experience working alongside and supporting equity-seeking groups, especially with situations impacting mental health and wellness;
- Familiarity with relevant legislation such as Ontario Human Rights Code, Bill 131, 132, Accessibilities for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Ontarians with Disabilities Act;
- Knowledge of and willingness to build and foster relationships with community agencies;
- Experience conducting literature reviews and environmental scans to inform program design and reporting;
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to authentically engage with diverse campus and community stakeholders;
- Knowledge mobilization skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
- Proficiency with digital tools such as Canva and MS 365 suite;
- Organizational and time management skills.
