The Opportunity Lethbridge Transit has an exciting career-building opportunity to work in our Service Department. We are currently seeking applications for one (1) Service Person to join our team in a permanent part-time capacity . This position is responsible for a variety of work assignments including the servicing and cleaning of buses; Transit bus change offs; and handling cash collected from transit fares. This position requires physical strength and dexterity to perform manual tasks and the lifting of heavy objects. We are looking for a results-oriented team member who demonstrates professionalism and a strong work ethic. - 20 hours guaranteed per week. Additional hours may be offered as required, to cover for vacation or sickness
Starting Rate: $28.97 per hour (2025 rate) -- for the first 2080 hours worked
Wage: $32.19 per hour (2025 rate) -- after 2080 hours threshold successfully met
Shift Work: The successful candidate will be required to work shift work Shift premium: $1.50 per hour when working any shift commencing at 2:00 PM or later Specific Duties Will Include
- Fuel all Transit fleet buses.
- Clean the interior of the transit buses. Includes sweeping and cleaning of floors, removal of garbage, disinfection of surfaces, etc.
- Perform minor bus inspection such as fluid levels (engine oil, coolant, power steering, windshield washer levels, transmission, battery fluid levels, etc.)
- Perform weekly minor checks such as tire pressure and battery connections.
- Remove and install fare box vaults and maintain service and inventory records.
- Wash the exterior of the bus utilizing the automatic bus wash.
- Line up buses in good-to-go rows for the next day dispatching.
- Perform minor repairs as required such as headlights, bulbs, passenger seating, etc.
- Perform bus change offs and attend road service calls as needed.
- Perform related duties as required.
Specific Skills And Qualifications
- Prior experience in a commercial cleaning or servicing environment.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively unsupervised.
- Proficient communication skills, both oral and written.
- Willingness and aptitude to learn new technology.
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Must have a valid class 5 Operator’s license with a Q endorsement (airbrake).

- Applicants under consideration will be required to undergo and successfully clear a criminal background check conducted by Lethbridge Regional Police Service.
- References must include someone who has directly supervised you for a minimum of six months.
- Current shifts are under a compressed work week schedule, with 10-hour shifts over 4 days, followed by 3 consecutive days off.
- Weekday shifts are scheduled in the evenings from Monday to Friday, while weekend shifts include both morning and evening options selected by seniority.
