Your Opportunity:
The Pharmacist I will be managing medication therapy for patients collaboratively with other healthcare providers in a patient centered model to ensure that medications are used safely and appropriately. Your role will include assessing patients for potential or actual drug-related problems and resolving or preventing drug-related problems to optimize patient outcomes. Duties includes medication order assessment and verification, checking prepared oral, parenteral, chemotherapeutic and topical medications or parenteral nutrition. Dispensing and coordinating the procurement of special access and study medications and providing functional supervision for pharmacy operations and responding to drug information questions are other duties within your role. Other roles include participation in organizational best practices, drugs stewardship, and quality improvement initiatives to improve quality of patient care. The successful candidate will be working overnight shifts only (22:45 to 07:00).

You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to use computer medication order entry systems to review /assess and verify patient’s medication orders and to access and proficiently use drug information resources. Fluency in written and verbal English language. Ability to incorporate AHS organizational values into person’s work, actions, and decisions. Safeguard AHS information as private and confidential. Ability to adhere to AHS policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work with other healthcare with professionalism and respect. Ability to effectively manage his or her time and setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity. Demonstrated proficient problem-solving skills. Shows personal and professional accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional Prescribing Authorization and completion of accredited hospital residency/Pharm D program preferred.
