About the role

Job Description The Supervisor, Medical Device Reprocessing is responsible for facilitating the delivery of quality service for timely processing of equipment and supplies necessary to support the operation of internal departments; supervising and developing human resources, developing and maintaining inter-department linkages; performing administrative responsibilities and following a program of quality assurance. The Supervisor promotes the development of a motivated and cohesive team and supports educational strategies to enhance staff knowledge with respect to processing practices and service delivery.

Contribute To Safe, Quality Care By

  • Responsible for the timely processing of equipment and supplies necessary to support the operation of internal departments.
  • Ensuring patients have the best possible patient care by delivery of products processed in accordance with all regulations and standards of decontamination, disinfection and sterilization.
  • Coordinating and/or collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that continuity of and exemplary patient care is provided.
  • Facilitating supports and ensuring ongoing structures to support standardized processing practices and educational strategies on processing practices, actively participates in the coordination and/or delivery of education sessions/seminars as required.
  • Functioning as a resource for staff by providing continuous education and training to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and established procedures and protocols.
  • Allocating staff resources including: monitoring, scheduling and utilizing staff efficiently to ensure adequate shift coverage.
  • Monitoring quality standards and performs quality checks and takes corrective action as required.
  • Performing administrative responsibilities.

What must you have?

  • Sterile Supply Processing Certificate from a recognized community college or university.
  • Five (5) years of recent working experience in a MDR department.
  • Two (2) years Medical Device Reprocessing Supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of instrument tracking systems and operating room instrumentation.

  • Demonstrated understanding of current legislation, regulations and procedures for sterilizing of hospital equipment and related infection control issues.
  • Well-developed team-building, conflict management and consensus-building skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and to motivate others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus and ability to work effectively in a diverse/corporate environment.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated critical thinking and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong Computer skills in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook at an advanced level in addition to financial reporting.

  • Proven attendance record.
