The Opportunity

Our Land Management Services Team in the Design Branch is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to contribute to this work in a Registration Services Advisor role. In this role you will be working with the Manager of Land Advisory & Client Services.

This position examines legal plans of survey for title verification, registration, and area determination prior to title creation.

As a Registration Services Advisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with senior officials, ministry staff, Controller of Surveys, Information Services Corporation (ISC), municipalities, and lawyers to provide advice on specific requests related to survey needs by developing, building and obtaining solutions through understanding provincial and municipal needs;
  • Research, review, interpret, issue authorizations for road survey plans creation resulting in title transfer of public improvements in accordance with legislative requirements, regulation and ministry policy and procedures; and
  • Providing advice, direction and assistance for the examination and preparation of legal plans of survey for ministry staff regarding historical and future plans of survey, needs for registration and Crown ownership under the legislated mandate of the Ministry.

You will have the knowledge of:

  • Land titles, Torrens system of land registry, land surveys practices with comprehensive experience in the preparation, examination and registration of legal survey plans and mapping skills;
  • Legal land conveyance, and experience with interpreting federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations concerning property rights and registration pertaining to road plans; and
  • Microsoft Office suite including word processing, spreadsheets, etc. and online communication tools.

You will have the ability to:

  • Write clear and concise documents including prepare and clearly deliver information in manuals, briefing materials, reports, handbooks, and procedures;
  • Analyze detailed information, identify issues or problems, consider / communicate various options, then determine and implement appropriate course of action;
  • Actively listen, ask appropriate questions, anticipate issues, clarify problems to offer explanations or solutions to a variety of audiences;
  • Independently and efficiently respond to questions and problems from ministry clients on issues that may be contentious;
  • Independently plan, implement and monitor projects or activities; and
  • Be a reliable, self-confident, team player who is approachable, innovative and detail oriented.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities would be obtained through the completion of a degree in planning, survey, land administration or a diploma in survey technology and comprehensive knowledge directly related to administration of lands. Comparable qualifications and experience related to right of ways and public transportation may be considered.
