About the role

Cochrane is located in the breathtaking Bow Valley corridor in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in southern Alberta. With a population of over 37,000 people, and growing steadily every year, Cochrane is a thriving town, surrounded by world-famous ranch country. Our western heritage is reflected in the Town’s architecture and our friendly people. The Town of Cochrane welcomes innovative and skilled individuals to join our team of over 250 employees.

At Cochrane, we don’t just assess properties—we help shape a growing community. As the fastest-growing mid-sized city in Western Canada, we are evolving to meet the needs of our community while ensuring fairness, transparency, and innovation in everything we do.

Cochrane is experiencing rapid development, with expanding residential communities and a thriving commercial sector. As our community continues to grow, property assessments play a crucial role in ensuring fairness and accuracy across diverse properties. With a dynamic inventory of urban residential and commercial properties, the Assessor will contribute to this evolving landscape, maintaining equitable valuations that support Cochrane’s development and sustainability.

About the Team:
The Assessment team is at the heart of this effort, connecting directly with residential, commercial, and industrial property owners to determine market values and ensure the financial resources needed for Cochrane’s municipal services.

They operate with precision, confidentiality, and discretion, ensuring assessments meet provincial standards while supporting Cochrane’s ongoing growth.

Beyond technical expertise, they love property assessment! They thrive on balancing precision with interpretation—finding clarity in the black and white while navigating the grey. Above all, they value team wins over individual ones, embrace change and innovation, and always ask: “How does this serve Cochrane’s residents?” If you're passionate about assessment, enjoy problem-solving, and want to make a meaningful impact in a rapidly growing city, this is the team for you.
