SCOPE
Reporting to the Manager, Case Management Services, the incumbent acts as a primary support resource to community members who have experienced sexual violence and will provide individual counseling to students, staff and faculty who have experienced sexual violence. They will also direct members who have experienced sexual violence to community services and resources as appropriate.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides individual counseling to students, staff and faculty who have experienced sexual violence as defined by department policies and in accordance with provisions of the licensing bodies
• Support survivors to develop coping skills and strategies for managing impact of trauma and monitors improvement.
• Develop and implement treatment plans.
• Provide counsel and therapy to assist clients in developing skills to deal with and resolve their social and personal problems.
• Support survivors to navigate University resources and refers them to external services and resources for optimal support.
• Maintain clinical records and notes in accordance with professional and licensing standards and guidelines.
• Respond to students in distress or crisis as needed.
• Attend team meetings, group and individual supervision as scheduled with the Manager of Case Management Services.
• Update the Manager of Case Management Services for treatment planning purposes as needed.
• Keep up to date on therapeutic approaches and best practices when working with survivors of sexual violence
• Perform other duties in support of the operation of the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s Degree in Social Work and two to four years of clinical experience working with individuals and groups experiencing trauma or sexual violence.
• Licensed member of the OTSTCFQ.
• Working knowledge of current research and best practices in treatment approaches to survivors of sexual violence.
• Approachability; demonstrates sensitivity and genuineness with others.
• Composure; demonstrates calm approach to difficult, distressing, and crisis situations.
• Understanding of equity, intersectionality and anti-oppression principles and techniques. Experience working with underrepresented groups who have experiences sexual violence or trauma.
• Good spoken and written English (Level 4) and good spoken French (Level 4 provide individual counseling to students, staff and faculty, as well as to consult with internal and external resources and services.
• Ability to maintain proper, detailed record keeping and clinical notes.
• Basic knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal sensitively with individuals.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Aptitude to work in a service-oriented environment as both a member of a team and independently.
• Knowledge of the University environment and of the Quebec higher education system.
