Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About The Role Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time SAP Security Analyst III to join our dynamic IT Strategy & Governance team.

The IT Strategy & Governance team is responsible for ensuring that Canadian Blood Service's technology resources are used effectively and align with its overall business goals.

Reporting to the Associate Director, IT Security Risk & Compliance, you will interface with business partners, business owners, the IT SAP Security Controls Officer and members of the Internal and External Customer Experience teams to deliver security and controls support on SAP and other regulated systems. You will be responsible for maintaining SAP security and authorization on production and non-production systems in accordance with the standard procedures in a regulated environment.

Formula for success

  • Utilizing your experience in SAP and regulated systems, you will provide security support for new user authorizations, system upgrades, and the implementation of new functionality.
  • Collaborating across teams, you will work with the Manager, IT team members, and the SAP Security Controls Officer to identify authorization issues and recommend effective access solutions.
  • Drawing on your knowledge of SAP refresh procedures, you will prepare and execute the necessary security steps before and after a system refresh.
  • Contributing your expertise in process development, you will assist in refining SAP security procedures and operational protocols.
  • Applying your attention to detail, you will conduct regular reviews of SAP and other regulated system users and take appropriate actions based on your findings.
  • Leveraging your analytical skills, you will review and report on authorization vulnerabilities, usage patterns, and system logs to ensure application security and compliance.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Desired Education And Skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Training, Business Administration, Security or equivalent. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • An IT Security certification such as CISSP, CISA, etc is preferred.
  • 2 years minimum experience in any SAP Functional or Technical role or providing SAP end user support with a focus on SAP Security.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience in an SAP Security Analyst role for enterprise-wide applications (ERP, CRM).
  • 1 to 2 years minimum experience with Microsoft Identity Management, Entra ID and regulated system role validation.
  • Strong understanding of Information Systems and specifically security and control points.
  • Strong understanding of inter-relationships and integration points between SAP modules and SAP systems.
  • Ability to work on-call and occasionally off shifts or weekends (for cutover activities, deployment of SAP security changes).

What You Can Expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
  • Possible requirement to work on-call and occasionally outside of regular business hours, including evenings or weekends, to support activities such as cutovers or deployment of SAP security changes.
  • If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in Ottawa – 2540 Lancaster Rd, Ottawa, Ontario, quarterly for in-person team meetings when required.
