What you will do:
Reporting to the Director, Media Strategy, the Manager, Media Strategy leads all paid media activity across our marketing teams and acts as the primary liaison with our media agency. You will take ownership of media performance, ensuring agency recommendations are rooted in data and aligned with our business objectives. In this role, you’ll collaborate with consumer marketing leads to identify and implement strategic media approaches during the campaign briefing process. The ideal candidate brings expertise in managing cross-channel campaigns including search, display, paid social, and traditional media and thrives in a collaborative, data-driven environment.
NOTE: This is a hybrid role, based out of the Cineplex Head Office at 1303 Yonge St, Toronto
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and management of paid media strategies in collaboration with our media agency to optimize cross-channel campaigns.
- Execute in-house planning and campaign management for select lines of business not covered by the media agency. Align strategy with internal stakeholders and oversee campaign execution alongside the Media Coordinator.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with media vendors to support direct media buys and evaluate new opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing Analytics and D&T teams to leverage performance data, generate insights, and inform ongoing campaign optimizations.
- Track and report on key media KPIs to guide strategic decisions and performance outcomes.
- Maintain and monitor campaign budgets for each line of business, ensuring alignment with spend forecasts. Reconcile media invoices and resolve any discrepancies in partnership with marketing stakeholders.
- Engage in clear communication between marketing primes, the media agency, and internal groups such as Loyalty, Data Science, and D&T to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Coach and support the Media Coordinator, providing mentorship, feedback, and guidance to build capability within the team.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of experience.
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience in media planning and digital media buying, with a strong background in performance marketing and data-informed decision-making.
- At least 1 year of people management experience, including coaching and performance development.
- Proven experience managing external vendors or partners across multiple marketing lines of business.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze paid media performance, forecast outcomes, and implement continuous optimizations.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present strategy and resolve issues across cross-functional teams.
- Experience using customer data and segmentation to uncover insights and tailor campaigns.
