Position Summary
Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations, with a focus on Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). Approximately 75% of this role involves A/P duties, including invoice processing and vendor issue resolution. You will also liaise with external accounting providers and support month-end and year-end financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions accurately and on time
- Manage external A/P entry service provider; handle voucher entry as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve vendor billing discrepancies
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
- Post general ledger entries and maintain inter-company accuracy
- Respond to customer payment inquiries and manage A/R exceptions
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial records
- Prepare and process weekly payments (ACH, EFT, wires, credit cards)
- Produce monthly financial statements and present to senior leadership
- Collaborate with external accountants for year-end reviews
- Support other departments (purchasing, logistics) to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or equivalent experience
- 3–5+ years of accounting experience (preferably in a small-medium business setting)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, etc.); ERP experience (BlueLink) is an asset
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or within a team
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a customer-first approach
- Experienced in small to medium-sized business environments (10–75 people)
- Exceptionally detail-oriented and organized
- Proactive, with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Excellent communicator in English (French and/or Mandarin is a plus)
