The Strategy, Planning and Sector Engagement Branch is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented individual with strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills and the capacity to support a range of issues affecting Saskatchewan’s post-secondary sector and students.
Reporting to the Director of the Learning Pathways Unit, the successful candidate will lead and support high-priority ministry files such as: training programs in health human resources, student pathways, degree authorization, and other emerging areas of interest. This position will provide critical research, policy analysis and recommendations in response to key labour force trends and in-demand skills for growing sectors of the provincial economy, most notably the health sector. The successful candidate will be required to conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis on the latest trends in post-secondary education and brief the Ministry’s management team on their findings.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on budget development and complex projects, with the ability to lead and participate in project teams with both internal and external stakeholders to provide advice, analysis and recommendations on a variety of strategic issues related to post-secondary education in Saskatchewan. They will have a demonstrated ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple, complex tasks and projects taking into consideration conflicting and changing priorities to meet deadlines. In addition, playing a critical role in working together with key stakeholders on the development of innovative solutions to complex problems that will help to advance broader priorities will be required.
Proven communication skills (written and verbal) are vital in these positions, where you will be required to transform research and data on post-secondary education issues into a wide range of communication tools such as presentations, proposals and briefing materials. Our ideal candidate will also have strong consultation, advisory and facilitation skills that can enhance interactions with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.
This position requires knowledge and experience typically obtained through graduate-level studies along with several years of work experience related to strategic policy development and collaborative project management. A combination of education and experience will be considered. A key skill that will be assessed for these positions is the ability to distill complex information for a variety of audiences to allow for immediate understanding of an issue.
