CUSTOMER SERVICE/ SALES ASSOCIATE

The Sales Associate is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and efficient service to customers. Advise customers on appropriate merchandise and related items: processing transactions (cash, credit card, debit card, sales on accounts and returns) using our POS system. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide excellent customer service to all customers, contractors, vendors, etc.
• Assist customers in locating merchandising in store, on homehardware.com, as well as processing special items.
• Communicate product knowledge to the customer as appropriate.
• Assist customers in locating and comparing merchandise.
• Assist customers with carrying out of large or heavy items.
• Operate the POS system accurately to process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges.
• Follow procedures and maintain standards according to store policy in the following areas: loss prevention, receiving and pricing goods, merchandise handling and presentation, restocking shelves and handling cash.
• Open/close store independently.
• Build special displays and signage for sales, promotions and other special events and then take down and rearrange stock after.
• Assist in Stock and processing purchase orders.
• Assist in merchandise & visual presentation of store to maximize meeting customer service.
• Handle phone inquires from customers and provide information about products, availability, and store policies.
• Keep stock in storage area neat, clean, and orderly.
• Participate in all training opportunities presented.
• Adhere to all policies/procedures/safety guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior retail experience beneficial.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule/including weekends and holidays.
• Experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
• Self-motivated and driven individual who can also work in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Friendly and helpful attitude towards customers.
• Must be able to stand on your feet most of the day and bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Great customer service skills is absolutely a must!
