Position Overview:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of both the technical and procedural elements of Lanco’s quality management system. This role drives continuous improvement across manufacturing and supply base operations by managing internal and external corrective actions, conducting audits, and fostering compliance with ISO9001 principles. The Quality Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality, reduce warranty costs, and ensure effective use of quality control resources while mentoring junior quality team members.
Essential Functions:
- Quality Standards & Processes: Develop and continuously improve company quality standards, methods, and processes to ensure compliance with business needs and industry standards.
- Corrective Actions: Manage SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action) and ICAR (Internal Corrective Action) processes. Trace quality concerns to root cause and implement permanent countermeasures.
- Inspection & Quality Control: Actively participate in internal quality processes, including receiving inspection, first article inspection, nonconforming material control, and final inspection.
- Auditing: Execute internal quality system audits and external supplier audits to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Product Design Support: Collaborate with engineering teams to continuously improve product designs, supporting the achievement of quality expectations and strengthening performance specifications.
- ISO9001 Compliance: Lead ISO9001 audit preparation, promote proper implementation across departments, and ensure alignment with certification requirements.
- Customer Feedback: Analyze warranty claims to capture “voice of the customer” insights and develop corrective actions to reduce warranty costs and improve satisfaction.
- Quality Metrics & Reporting: Develop quality metrics, prepare monthly site-based quality reports, and allocate quality control resources effectively.
- Team Mentorship: Provide technical and procedural guidance to junior members of the quality team to develop their skills and knowledge.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Communicate quality concerns internally and externally to raise awareness and secure necessary support for resolution.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all quality activities adhere to regulatory and environmental standards, promoting safe and sustainable practices.
What we are looking for:
- Detail-oriented and analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in quality systems (ISO9001) and experienced with internal/external audits.
- Skilled in root cause analysis, quality metrics development, and process improvement.
- Technical literacy in CAD models, engineering drawings/specifications, and measuring devices.
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and paint processes.
- Capable of mentoring team members and fostering a collaborative, improvement-focused culture.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of applicable quality or manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with quality data systems.
- ISO9001 auditing experience preferred.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
- This role is primarily production-based and involves working in a factory or warehouse environment with exposure to noise and machinery.
- Work involves climbing, bending, squatting, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Ability to lift parts up to 50 lbs. and pull up to 20 lbs.
Compensation/Benefits:
We foster a collaborative team environment that values innovation and continuous improvement. The base pay range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 , with final compensation dependent on experience, education, skills, and location. We offer competitive pay, paid time off, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
